Vista Media & Design developed a design and feasibility study for a digital full dome theater and planetarium for the King Salman Science Oasis in Riyadh. The 32-meter sphere is planned as a steel supported composite structure that houses the 367-seater theater with the associated facilities.
The visitor experience begins in a stylishly furnished café area which also serves as the waiting lobby. A selection of cinema typical food and beverage is offered. From here visitors enter the theater.
The tilted projection dome allows for a highly immersive experience of the latest full dome content. The state-of-the-art projection system is based on the latest digital laser projectors achieving highest contrast values and colors. The projection system can also be used for interactive live planetarium shows. An opto-mechanical star projection system can be installed optionally. The ultra-modern surround sound system, based on the latest Dolby Atmos technology, fills the theater with breathtaking sound coming from all directions, including overhead and floor.
After the show, visitors exit the theater from the lower level and are directed to a gift shop with a selection of merchandise and educational items. The theater is fully equipped with rest rooms, air conditioning, storage and administration rooms.
