The 360-degree projection of the Walkable Sky Globe takes the visitor on an immersive journey through our galaxy – from Earth to the most remote areas of the Milky Way.
Each hemisphere of the Sky Globe consists of an extremely lightweight, highly resistant glass fiber composite material and has a diameter of 6 meters. The interior of the hemispheres form a specially coated projection area. 12 professional full-HD projectors screen images on its entire surface.
A bridge leads onto an elevated platform, creating a highly immersive experience for the visitor. The globe holds a capacity of up to 25 people for one screening. The projection was designed to show no visible pixels at the common viewing distance. The overall resolution is 35 Megapixels. An auto-calibration system provides a steadily focused projected image. An 8.1 audio system has been installed to ensure a unique surround sound experience.
The exterior of the Walkable Sky Globe represents the celestial globe. The visible parts of the outer globe are coated by specially laminated film and reveal the main zodiac signs of the Northern celestial sphere.
